Fast-forward to 2015 and meet 1440, Ingram Content Group’s Accelerator focused on the companies in the publishing space that are changing the world today. 1440’s goal is to foster publishing innovation for creating, distributing, or consuming print or electronic book content. Ideally suited for the program are early-stage companies that support book publishers, including independent authors, or help retailers, libraries, or educators connect with more readers. Of particular interest are content creation or distribution platforms, demand generation services, data analysis tools (sales, market, customer data) related to digital or physical content distribution.

Through 1440, the Ingram Content Group will invest $30k in up to 10 companies in exchange for 7% equity, with an additional 1-3% equity earmarked for key advisors from the program’s mentor pool. Selected companies will undergo an intensive 14-week program, starting January 31, 2016, designed to help achieve 18 months of progress in three calendar months.

In addition to capital, companies selected for 1440 will receive comprehensive education on both the publishing industry and startup best practices. Companies will be mentored by some of Ingram’s most seasoned experts. Startups will gain valuable insights into the publishing industry, get coaching on customer development, and be be connected to industry thought leaders. The startups will also have access to Ingram Content Group resources that will take 1440 companies further, faster. Companies are supported by the Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s mentor pool of business leaders, startup operators, investor-mentors, and service providers. Companies selected for 1440 are provided work space in the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and will be surrounded by people with a track record for helping launch amazing companies.
