8Bit

8Bit is a content discovery and analytics platform designed to help publishers put their most engaging content in front of their users across multiple platforms using smart insights collected off their site using our recommendation widget and script. We use a traditional tracking script built into a recommendations widget on content pages within sites - we track all engagement across the site and various social networks to create a centralized content index. Every user is ID'd and given an interest profile which indicates their favourite content verticals, favourite publishers and scores them according to their value to each publisher. We then provide recommendations outputs in a personalized manner via customizable widgets or our API. All of the insights into user engagement are transparent and made available via our dashboard where content can be adjusted, paused or removed from the index - decisions can also be made as to what content to share, amplify or focus by the editorial team in real-time.

Our on page unit CTR averages at 4.2% and that can go as high as 8% or even 15% in some cases - which is a huge value add for publishers of all sizes. Leading publishing houses are starting to see the value in engagement and time on site over linkbait for low eCPMs - NewsCorp recently unveiled an in house version of our product where they are touting 1% unit CTRs - they clearly should have worked with us. 8Bit also enables the creation of closed content networks - where publishing houses/partnerships can create a closed network of up to 200 sites with intelligent traffic redistribution - either by site or to a centrally owned property or aggregator using our aggregation technologies. We have 5 such networks and redirect millions of clicks across these media houses monthly. For instance Vox media does 11.2 million pageviews, so with an 8 slot widget they would be able to redistribute roughly 448,00 clicks within their own network of sites. When these numbers are scaled up further the amount of traffic redistribution through the 8Bit system can become enormous, while also generating valuable data and insights into their audience. We strongly believe engagement always trumps offsite linking to linkbait and leading publishers are learning that.
