Affordable Access Initiative 2016-17

We believe that bringing affordable last-mile Internet access to underserved markets is core to our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. The foundational challenge to achieve more is acute in developing markets where affordable last-mile Internet access and the ability to leverage cloud-based applications is often lacking.

To help address this challenge, we created the Affordable Access Initiative to challenge companies to develop innovative new products and business models that will help billions more consumers underserved markets affordably get online and consume cloud-based services. Such products and business models might combine new cloud services and applications, low-cost forms of Internet connectivity, and new payment mechanisms designed for consumers in underserved markets.
