Alba Project (AP) was born as a spin-off of the local research group of Database and Information Systems in 2003. Its main goal has been to take to the market systems developed at the University. It has experience with local mobility Quality of Service (QoS) management, because the team has supported the Apulia Region in drafting the model of the Local Mobility’s Service Quality Chart, with the aim of reducing the gap between the delivered and perceived quality. The team has also piloted the app system for analyzing delivered quality using data gathered from service providers. AP has also several experience in IT supporting regulations, compliance and planning. It has developed, implemented and commercialized SLACOM (Service Level Aware Contract Management), a framework for analyzing, modelling and improving service contracts in order to enforce them, aligned with customer expectations and related regulation starting from data. It has developed, implemented and commercialized SLACOM (Service Level Aware Contract Management), a framework for analyzing, modelling and improving service contracts in order to enforce them, aligned with customer expectations and related regulation starting from data. Some clients are Italian Railways and Italian Posts. Moreover Alba Project has developed and commercializes Social } { mente, a social learning platform, delivered as a SaaS, which is also the first social learning platform for building schools (currently part of ENOLL). AP has also developed the first industrial platform for online laboratories based on the remote control of lab equipments and the first Massive Online Open Laboratorie (MOOLs) for measuring electromagnetism using smartphone sensors according to the Mobile Crowd Sensing (MCS) paradigm. The MOOL has been validated with some local schools for remote experimentations. The platforms of SLACOM and the MOOL deal with storing and analyzing big amount of data and AP has already experienced with big data (like Hadoop) and mashup platforms for feeding data in real time into apps. Starting from these experiences AP has been granted in FrontierCities acceleration program for developing and piloting a platform for data-driven urban planning based MCS paradigm. Currently noise pollution monitoring is under development on Fiware platform.
