We interview, train, and certify current students from top universities and match them with k-12 (and college) students for peer to peer tutoring. The process is simple: you choose the subject you're in, you pick a tutor from our list, you book a trial session, and you join the session on our virtual whiteboard.

When I started this company, I was only a senior in high school so hiring retired professors was difficult and expensive. Ansari started as a tutoring center and opened its first location in Los Angeles November of 2018. Our peer to peer focus was born on accident. When I started this company, I was only a senior in high school so hiring retired professors was difficult and expensive. Instead I hired my smart high school friends and it turned out to work very well. The students enjoyed the relatable sessions and the parents were baffled by the fact that the student was actually excited for his/her tutoring session asking the parent to buy more tutoring hours. Furthermore, after being encouraged by one of my students, we tried online sessions. It turned out to be very effective and efficient, in fact, better than in-person ones. So, about a year ago, we closed our center in LA and changed our path from franchising to building a large peer to peer marketplace.

A student/parents signs up for a free session, then they buy a bundle of hours (choosing from 3 options) and use their hours throughout the semester. Each tutor gets paid $20/hour. Thus far, we've built an MVP, done around $100,000 in revenue, and very recently we've launched our V2. This year, we are focused on scaling and we are projecting $500,000 in revenue.

While young in terms of years, Ali is already a second-time founder and his experience has helped him quickly scale his second venture, Ansari Math. I have served as Ali's mentor through the SkyDeck Hot Desk program, and I've been impressed with his business acumen, his passion for education and students and his focus on creating a great product. Ali is relentless in his pursuit of a company that serves all of his constituents well from tutors to students to employees. While Ali has all of the fundamentals to build a great company, he could benefit from additional support from an accelerator - the network of investors, advisors and other founders along with professional development content - to supercharge his progress.
