ARDA provides a complete EV fast charging solution, using mostly 3rd party mass produced hardware, that is both highly efficient and cost effective. The solution is based on an innovative DC microgrid technology developed by ARDA engineers and in cooperation with the University of Toronto. Use of the DC microgrid provides key benefits for EV charging: 1) Reduced required grid connection size, 2) Reduced capital costs including from elimination of many transformers, 3) Increased efficiency from elimination of unnecessary AC/DC conversions particularly when using distributed solar, 4) Increased flexibility from the plug-and-play nature of the DC system. These features will help to dramatically accelerate the deployment of EV fast chargers, particularly those using distributed generation including solar, while reducing the burden placed on the grid.
