At Avtrain our mission is to encourage prolific drone operations and keep the skies safe through certification and the highest standards of training. We live by the 3D’s - If it is Dull, Dirty or Dangerous then a drone should be doing it. Avtrain was incorporated in October 2019 and we are setting the standards for others to follow. We certify Drone pilots and Operators for all fixed wing, hybrid, single and multi-rotor drones in all weight categories.
We hold an approval as Recognised Entity issued by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) for the grant of EASA Open A2 and all Specific Category Authorisations, Declarations & Light UAS operator Certificate. We hold an approval as Recognised Entity issued by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) for the grant of EASA Open A2 and all Specific Category Authorisations, Declarations & Light UAS operator Certificate. During Covid we moved our training online and now offer all of our courses live through Zoom. The landscape significantly changed on the 1st of January 2021 with the introduction of European Drone Regulations which introduced European Licences rather than National Licences and changed the training and certification requirements to a risk based model of the Open, Specific and Certified categories of risk. The higher the risk the more training and certification required. Avtrain’s IAA authorisations allow us to provide the training for the highest level of risk currently legislated for. Earlier this year we launched our website with ecommerce functionality and a learning management system but it needs significant development and UX improvement. We are in negotiations with 2 Venture Build entities, depending on which entity is selected there will be slightly different calls on investor funding. The discussions are focussed on online course development, improved learning management platform, developing a risk assessment APP and developing a flight simulator so practical training and flight testing can also be done online. The practical elements currently have to be carried out in person for the higher categories of certification. In order to scale across Europe we need to be able to top the SEO in every jurisdiction and offer our training in English and in some cases other languages. Avtrain have signed an MoU to develop a consortium with Shannon Group, Future Mobility Campus Ireland and SkyPorts with the IAA as an additional committed signatory to the MoU once the separation of the commercial entity and regulator takes place this coming August. The scope of the MoU is attached. The proof of concept flights are planned for September this year with European funding being sought from SESAR in the Q4 2021 call.
