Vision
Ascend Innovation Network exists to increase the success of nonprofit organizations and help them achieve their mission.

Mission
We accomplish our vision by connecting nonprofit organizations with high-quality, vetted, service providers. Our connections allow nonprofits to focus on their mission while outsourcing non-core or non-core competency activities to experts in those fields.

The Problem: Many societal problems are addressed by nonprofit organizations (NPOs). According to Forbes, in 2016 $350 billion were donated to 1.5 million NPOs in the US. This includes 10,000 in the Cincinnati area. Unfortunately, much of the money is not used effectively due to trouble hiring quality service providers (SPs). Why?

1. Founders and officers may have more heart than business experience ad don’t know how to select SPs. They started their NPO because they saw a need and wanted to help solve it.
2. There are SPs who deliberately prey on NPOs

3. Many NPOs try to do everything in-house. Many times, this does not yield the desired results.

Some specific examples:
• An NPO paid $5k for a website, up front, and the SP vanished mid-project
• Another paid >$3,000 to a grant writer who got them no money and did a VERY poor job
• Being charged $2.50/brochure printed
• Using the lowest cost security camera company and getting that level of service

Proposed Solution: Ascend Innovation Network solves the “problem” with a collection of nonprofit-friendly, high-quality, vetted, SPs. A web portal will facilitate matching to NPOs’ needs. The vision for the portal is: 1) Angie’s List with ratings and rankings based user experience; 2) crossed with Upwork, that matches SPs with those who need their services.

The concept for this functionality is not unique. It is, in fact, a proven business model. At the same time, we are unaware of a large-scale solution directed specifically at NPOs and certainly not with a vetting process for SPs.

Benefit for SPs: Leads with reduced marketing expenses.

The SPs signed generally fit 3 categories:

1: Awesome SPs who have trouble selling themselves
2: Established SPs wanting to give back
3: Others looking for another marketing pathway who are now considering NPOs

Benefits to NPOs: There are 3 main value propositions for NPOs:
1. NPOs save money with our SPs who generally charge a reduced fee
2. NPOs save time trying to locate nonprofit friendly SPs
3. NPOs reduce risk of selecting ensure the SPs are high quality
