BabyMono

We develop baby products which stimulate cognitive development, based on neuroscientific evidence. What's more, our products are designed with a minimalist aesthetic, appealing to design-conscious parents. By bringing together neuroscience and design, our products offer both stimulation for baby, and style for parents.

Our first product - MonoMobile - is a minimalist, monochrome mobile which can hang above the cot or changing station. This mobile has been specifically designed to stimulate the primary visual cortex, using black and white grids, stripes, and orbs, with changing orientations and directions. Unlike any other mobile, it is also modular - changing with baby as their developing visual abilities unfold; harnessing emerging colour vision at 3 months of age, and depth perception at 6 months of age. This product is in the second round of prototyping.

In the future, we would like to expand the range to include a play mat including interchangeable components with MonoMobile. We would also like to develop products themed around stimulating motor development, and auditory development. We also have ideas for a range of textile products which we would like to explore further with audiences.

For now we want to focus on launching and selling MonoMobile, and building brand awareness. We will do this through a carefully tailored social media advertising campaign, including placing the product with specific influencers, product reviews with key bloggers and websites, and instagram advertising to targeted audiences. We will sell MonoMobile online (via our website, and curated design/nursery decor websites), as well as in physical shops (design stores and nursery decor stores).
