BioBCorp is a benefit-corporation that aims to maximize global resilience to public health crises. It is an idea bank where new types of antibiotics are discovered, designed, and developed to prepare for antibiotic-resistant outbreaks of superbugs. Antibiotic-resistant pathogens kill around 700,000 people each year but it is estimated to swell to 10 million by 2050 without biotechnological advances. However, the pharmaceutical industry is reluctant to participate, as new antibiotics are currently not profitable. BioBCorp aims to tackle this critical global health issue by creating a database of innovative antibiotic candidates, through preclinical R&D and patents. This would enable the pharmaceutical industry to quickly license, test, and produce new antibiotic drugs at a mass scale if an emergency outbreak (like the Covid-19 pandemic) occurs. Currently, our focus is on bacteriophages, as they have evolved to infect and kill bacteria....
