We empower individuals & businesses alike to benefit from the value of fresh observation imagery

Maps and satellite imagery have increasing importance to our daily lives but a fraction of the individuals and wider industries that can derive value from up to date information is realised. The traditional data provision model only serves high-cost images to high-value customers. Equally, the imagery in Google Maps is typically three years old.

Maps and satellite imagery have increasing importance to our daily lives but a fraction of the individuals and wider industries that can derive value from up to date information is realised. Existing new imagery is becoming available but few can access it. There is major private investment in new satellite constellations but route to market has not been developed. The traditional data provision model only serves high-cost images to high-value customers. Equally, the imagery in Google Maps is typically three years old.

We are transforming access to the value of imagery by leveraging increases in geo-referenced information online to use of novel, big data analytics to identify needs and acquire imagery in places and times of interest to many people. We make fresh observations available to a wide range of new consumers, acquiring imagery from many providers. Our approach means we only acquire what the market has an appetite for and can generate repeat sales. We push user friendly observations to consumer devices and generate revenues from direct on-line purchases of imagery (B2B and B2C via social media), advertising revenues and subscription services.

We have the most regular data - We partner with many providers (satellite and airborne) meaning we have more data than any provider alone, maximising chances of finding information of value.

We use data analytics to understand what data is of value and to whom - We use big data analytics of social media and online data to find customer needs that can be met by the data we have and help our partners to acquire imagery in places of demand.

We push data to those that will value it – Uniquely, when we have data that we know is of value, we push the relevant imagery to users.

Our data are significantly cheaper than competitors. By identifying mass demand for satellite imagery, we can sell the parts of an image of value to end users and generate revenue from repeat sales, enabling lower per image costs.

The market opportunity comprises 3 billion users who have access to mobile devices and exploit location based information; 69% of on-line Google searches now include a location, 50% of those lead to a map.

The latest information can make a difference. From seeing your street, your town, their place of work or holiday destination, and any recent changes, benefit can be realised.

I know Corentin Guillo and Chris Brunskill as domain experts in satellite applications, two excellent engineers with a thorough understanding of the market and its players. Their startup Bird.i is targeting the underserved segment of up-to-date earth observation data for consumer and commercial purposes. Providing fresh imagery together with analytics around the forecast of localised demand opens up innovative opportunities in sectors like construction, tourism, real-estate and remote facility monitoring. A highly recommend Corentin and Chris for the startup program on F6S.

Bird.I is an extremely innovative business, looking to take valuable, but previously inaccessible, information to the mass market. There is a lot of investment taking place in satellite constellations and activity in the UAV domain but few are considering the route to market. Bird.i is in the right place to become that channel to market.
Through novel big data analytics and adoption of novel digital marketing, the value of this imagery can be delivered to those that can derive value from it.
I wholeheartedly recommend working with Bird.i.
