Each year foodborne illnesses sicken 600 million people worldwide and more than 23 million people in European region . Bacterial inspection methods have an important role in preventing this problem, but the slowness of the present inspection techniques is a major hurdle. The current inspection techniques take 2 to 5 days to produce the results. At times the results come after the product is already in the market, resulting in food recalls. In Europe alone more than 27% of food recalls (913), in 2017, were because of bacterial contamination, which resulted in huge losses and bad brand reputation for companies.
To solve the issue we at Bosetein are developing a Real-time Bacterial Inspection Sensor – ‘ReBIS’ by means of utilizing optical technologies and Machine learning (ML) algorithms.
