BroadBit has invented and is commercializing better, cheaper batteries based on abundant raw materials enabling sustainable large scale electrification of transportation & energy storage. Our main battery ingredients are NaCl (table salt), Carbon (coal), SiO2 (sand) and Sulfur (a waste material from petroleum refining and a food preservative). Our batteries have higher energy density, lower cost, better safety, a wider operating temperature range and are more scalable than today's industry standard Lithium-ion batteries. Our business model is to produce the key battery components (anodes, cathodes and electrolytes) and provide them to third parties for assembly into cells and battery packs....

I have visited the facilities of BroadBit batteries and seen the current state of battery development. I have been closely following the research and innovation activities of David Brown, one of the founders, for about 10 years. David has an excellent, world class track record as materials science innovator. He is one of the founders of Canatu Oy, a revolutionary carbon nanotube company that has just raised over 10 M€ from major car automobile companies. The potential of BroadBit Batteries is huge. The need to increase renewable energy usage and to increase energy efficiency calls for electricity based solutions with storage capacity. We all know about the material, cost and capacity challenges of current battery technologies. The technology being developed by BroadBit Batteries has the potential of becoming a major environmentally friendly solution addressing these challenges.
