Bruxlab

Bruxlab develops diagnostic tools to detect sleepbruxism, using machine learning, mobile technology and wearables. About 8% of the people has bruxism (clenching and grinding the teeth) and is related to other sleepdisorders like apnea or OSA.
The existing in home testdevices are expensive and not patient-friendly. Bruxlab wants to change this and make it possible to detect bruxism in a cheap and easy way.
Bruxlab developed an algorithm that detects and quantifies sounds related to bruxism. Sounds related to bruxism are scientifically proven the first step in the assement of bruxism, these sounds are normally reported by the bedpartner. Many people don't have a bedpartner and are unaware that the grind their teeth during the night, Bruxlab can change this and help these patients to record and quantify their grinding sounds.
The development of the Bruxsticker makes it possible to measure movement of the lower jaw during sleep. The Bruxsticker has an integrated nano-accelerometer with a Bluetooth chip that is connected with the "DoIGrind" app. Logging and tracking the movement of the lower jaw together with the recording and filtering of the tooth grinding sounds makes it possible to detect bruxism and its severity in a very cheap way.
