Camelback Ventures is committed to changing the face of entrepreneurship in one generation. Our mission is to create a more dynamic social innovation ecosystem that leverages the genius of all participants. To do this, we identify local leaders with promising ideas, and empower them to enact change within their communities.

We believe that ventures founded by entrepreneurs from their community of focus have increased success creating social impact, as they are already connected with and invested in their community. Therefore, we prioritize local entrepreneurs who are focused on creating educational and economic opportunities within their own communities. Because our target communities are primarily communities of color, many of our initiatives are founded by entrepreneurs of color....

Recommendations

Miesha Williamson I am the founder at STEM Girl Social Network

I would like to recommend Melanin Business and Danielle Mitchell for her outstanding work in promoting spending with black businesses.

Lenore Champagne Beirne Associate at 645 Ventures

I worked with Keith when he received a grant from the DC Social Impact Fund where I was a portfolio manager . Before and since, he has applied his creativity, passion, time, and energy to increasing financial literacy among minorities. Keith is uniquely positioned to closing the wealth gap because of his domain expertise, and because he approaches financial literacy in highly-engaging and thoughtful ways.

I am now on the investment team at 645 Ventures, and I am excited to see how Keith leverages educational technology to deepen his impact with Code Switch Solutions.

Thomas Parkinson Advisor at Cuiserve

I highly recommend Blair Pircon for the Camelback Fellowship. She is my student in New Venture Launch, the capstone class in the Kellogg School of Management's Discover - Test - Launch sequence for entrepreneurs. Her startup is The Graide Network, which links teachers to university students t grade and provide feedback on student work, freeing up more of the teacher's time for adding value in the classroom.

Blair is the clear leader of her team. She is dedicated and thoughtful, with a passion for this project and for education in general. She has shown tremendous initiative, launching two pilots to test pricing, user adoption and operating strategies. She's been accepted as a Zell Scholar at Kellogg, an honor that is reserved for the top entrepreneurship students at Kellogg.

Blair is also a great contributor to the other five teams in my class. I know that she would not only do well, but contribute greatly as a Camelback Fellow.
