We are a training and life skills start-up which has grown from a successful homelessness and social action charity. We work with young people, school leaders, charity leaders and disadvantaged groups. We have a full prospectus of training programmes for young people, school and charity leaders and charity beneficiaries, which can be viewed here: learninganddevelopmentacademy.com/sites/default/files/user-uploads/lda_prospectus_final.pdf.

Delivered by our fantastic team of trainers, our programmes are designed to build the confidence and determination to succeed, regardless of an individual's start in life. Our flagship programme, 'The Leader in Me', in a eight module course which takes young people on a journey from dependency (being reliant on parents, teachers etc), to independence (leaving school, getting a job etc) and then to interdependency (learning to work and live alongside others). We believe that taking young people out of their comfort zone and introducing them to leadership skills in a supportive context can have great impact, including increased confidence and self-esteem. This programme equips young people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with life skills that will propel them forward as they take their first steps into adulthood. The eight programme modules can be delivered over eight weeks (one school term), over two terms or even three. The course is entirely adaptable to each individual school's requirements.

This start-up builds upon Caritas Anchor House's previous success as an award-winning homelessness and lifeskills centre. We have been awarded Social Champion Runner-Up in the Charity Times Awards in 2013 and 2014, as well as multiple awards from the UK Skills Council's National Training Awards scheme, including a national award for Service Delivery and Best Individual Trainer.
