I am an of Cassie Innovations
Cassie allows users to forecast the outcome of world events, earning points for correct predictions. With categories like sports, current events, and pop culture, users can forecasts the events they’re most passionate about, be it “Who will win the Super Bowl?”, “Will South Carolina take down the Confederate flag?”, or “What will Will and Kate name the royal baby?”. Users can also create “personal polls” to share only among select friends. For example, “Which of our friends will get engaged next?” or “How much will Matt and Amanda’s new baby weigh?”.
In creating a “forecast”, users are broadcasting their opinion to their friends. In doing so, forecasting becomes a new form of social media. Users share their forecast (i.e. their opinion/prediction for an event) in a way that holds them accountable when the event ends and they are either right or wrong.

There have been a few other attempts at a "social prediction market" (Hubdub, Knew the News) but these have missed the main ingredient- making it social! With Cassie, we are making forecasting/predicting a friendly, competitive process. Just like any other social media, users are incentivized by maximizing their visibility to friends. Sharing forecasts will become just as mainstream as sharing a Tweet and we, Cassie, will be the ones to do it.
Inherent to creating an addictive platform with millions of users, is the generation of valuable data. We will ultimately be able to use Cassie prediction data more accurately predict the future. Following the principles of the Wisdom of the Crowds, our data will be valuable to corporations, government, and the media. It all starts, though, by making forecasting a truly social experience, and that is what we do.
