Organs on chips devices are based on the concept that it is possible to replicate certain functions of a human organ by culturing the relevant human organ cells (e.g., gut epithelial cells and endothelium cells for simulating intestine function) in horizontal microfluidic channels separated by a porous membrane. The culture media is flown over both sides of the membrane ensuring that cells are supplied with culture medium and metabolic waste are removed just like it happens in our organs. There is constant blood and fluid flow in our bodies, therefore similarly it needs to be maintained in chips as well, therefore we are developing simple to use cultivation system which will allow ordinary lab worker to apply this complex technology on their daily basis, therefore decreasing necessary expertise, hands on and test failure rate. This instrument will also be used to deliver drugs to organs on chip for testing.
