CerQana

CerQana is a system designed to improve freedom, autonomy and inclusion of dependent people, give tranquility to their relatives and ease their caregivers' work.

The system is divided into the user's app, the web application for the relatives and/or caregivers and other app for them where they receive real time notifications.

The user's app is a launcher, a special app that modifies the Android OS simplifying its UI and adapting it to the user's needs. To improve safety, CerQana gives remote control of the user's smartphone to the relative or caregiver, avoiding that CerQana would be stopped or uninstalled without his permission.

From the web application the relative or caregiver knows anytime where the user is. He can define safe or danger zones, appointments in the calendar and usual routines. For example, he can define that every Tuesday at 7am the user will go to school in the subway line 5, and he will arrive around 8am. CerQana reminds this routine to the user and will monitor the route. If the user deviates from the route, the relative or caregiver will be notified.

CerQana user's app is a launcher that modifies the smartphone's Android OS and adapt its UI to the user's needs. With CerQana the smartphone shows two speed dial buttons and a special emergency button. These buttons are configurated from de web application, and can be set so that when that phone number calls the user, if he doesn't answer the call in 10 seconds, CerQana will auto-answer it, activate the handsfree mode and set the volume to the maximum, so the user will hear it, and also everyone else who is neaby and could help in case of need.

Although have been simplified, the smartphone still has is full functionality. That means all the apps installed can be used. What CerQana does is allow activating and desactivating them from the web application, so the relative can control what apps the user can see and start.

Finally, CerQana has a synchronized calendar where both the user and the relative or caregiver can note appointments and routines, such as go to school every day at 7am or taking the blue pill all Mondays. Also, a route can be assigned to a routine, so CerQana will monitor it and notify the relative or caregiver if the user deviates from it.

Cerana is a modular system, so each user can choose what functionalities does he need.
