CodeNow’s mission is to transform youth from groups underrepresented in STEM fields into coders, designers, and entrepreneurs by teaching them how to solve problems with technology. CodeNow is more than just another coding school. The team that started the coding revolution has created a paradigm shift in tech education with an extended engagement program that helps teens understand the impact they can make in the world through software.

By providing low-income teens with the ongoing training and guidance they need to build career paths in the field, we also envision ourselves as change agents to address systemic inequities. Students begin their CodeNow experience at hands-on, in-person workshops where they learn the app development process. They then have access to continued online coursework as well as quarterly local meetups at tech companies. Along the way, students interact with technology professionals and mentors and learn in workplace environments. As students continue to progress through the CodeNow program, they build a network of professional engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs and discover practical steps to build a career path. In combination, the components of our curriculum motivate, enlighten, and empower the next generation of STEM leaders. At CodeNow, we’re building a future where teenage developers, entrepreneurs, and engineers are the norm, not the exception.

Since 2011, CodeNow has been at the forefront of the coding movement and has reached a total of 2,050 underserved teens in major metropolitan areas across the country from New York to Chicago to San Francisco with our proprietary, extended engagement curriculum.
