dECO is an online marketplace that coordinates secondhand suppliers, designers and other people interested in uniquely designed eco-friendly items and takes a 12% commission fee of each transaction.

The beloved fashion industry and fast fashion specifically come hand in hand with the societal and environmental costs. There are 170 million children working long-hours in horrible conditions in order to satisfy our increasing demand for fast fashion. This field produces 10% of all the world’s carbon emissions, which is more than the emissions from all international flights and maritime combined. 85% of the textiles go straight to the landfills, equivalent to filling out the entire Sydney harbor annually, sending thousands of microplastics into the oceans to damage the precious marine life. This industry is the second leading water consumer in the globe. In order to produce one t-shirt all of us own, 3.3 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions and 2700 liters of water are needed.

Through our platform, the reusing will be encouraged. dECO as an app that links secondhand suppliers, designers, and other customers, is able to let people be both ethical and fashionable at the same time. By making people reuse their unnecessary items 16000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be saved annually, which is equivalent to 2.8 million cars being off the road daily. In addition, 35 million liters of water will be saved annually. Secondhand is a way for breaking the complex chain of production of fast fashion goods which involves using child labor, sweatshops, environmental degradation.

Our market consists of over 56 million secondhand users in the US and a quarter million of freelance fashion designers and traditional artists like painters and embroiderers. The total secondhand market takes up 20 billion US dollars. The secondhand market is expected to grow by 16% annually. We target the beachhead market of 1%, which is equivalent to 562500 customers. We believe that secondhand is the future of fashion and in fact, there is an exponentially increasing trend for secondhand.

Mission: We aim to make fashion sustainable, ethical and unique.
Vision: Choose dECO, be eco.
