It is a pleasure to recommend DCYM and the progressive tech venture.
AnnMargaret has been a research assistant at the Media Education Lab and supported my CF Cinema initiative with VSA Arts RI. She worked under Professor Renee Hobbs for PBS News Hour Student Reporting Labs study. She worked in a small team coding 100 videos that measured 21st century integrated media-making proficiencies in high school students.
AnnMargaret’s work crowd-sources youth organizations and tracks how students use technology and social media. Using a simple research strategy, the project has sociological significance in that it will observe change over time in students’ collaborative online work patterns. It combines what we call digital ethnography with an innovative experimental setting, and will likely make viable contributions to how we think about youth culture, digital divide, and how technology may direct social change.
