Diuit’s virtual assistant has three layers of functions: (1) device control via voice/text messaging, (2) software service integrated into conversational interface, and (3) machine learning algorithm learning user behaviors. We’ve completed the first layer. Through SDK/API integration, hardware companies can easily built in a communication layer into their apps. Using voice or text messaging to control devices, and the device can also send alerts and notification into the conversational interface, which is very likely letting users talking to the hardware devices. It also helped us earn a contract from a public company.

We’re in the phase of adding the second layer, planning to integrate software services into the conversational interface, which would be strategically important as no smart-home app have software service integration, and this is those services that consumers would care about. There are lots of interesting possible features. Some basics are checking weather, personal email and calendar or hailing a Uber car. More advanced ones would be looking up restaurants and booking a seat, booking home cleaning or laundry services via partnership with local on-demand marketplace services.

We also build a machine learning model to collect user’s behaviour in the conversation interface. This will help us provide intelligent assistant for every home. A virtual assistant understands the habit of every user and is able to provide tailored service for everyone.
