1. Competition from established 100 yrs old conventional technology. Old habits don't die easily and they benefit from overproduction and mass volume.
2. Battery technology is still not ready for mass adoption, at least on open roads.
3. Affordable cost at low volumes.
Conclusion:
1. Electric mobility can work when it matches the capability of batteries: in urban settings where range and speed are limited and where the demand is highest (air, noise, heat and space pollution).
2. The vehicle must be designed to make best use of electric propulsion benefits, such as compactness and energy efficiency. Hence, classical designs won't work as inefficient.
3. Versatility is a must. Not all needs can be fulfilled with a mass produced single type of vehicle. Hence we need a modular and scalable design.
4. Mobility as a Service means sharing schemes, a lit of software and (semi)-autonomous driving. This means a fault tolerant vehicle. Something a classical vehicle can't do.
A solution? The KURT modular and scalable electric vehicle platform. All the rest is providing the service.
