Electric Miles is a UK eMobility Cleantech startup founded in 2018 by Arun Anand.

As the UK and other countries continue searching for ways and creating new regulations to save the environment, the need for EVs and charging solutions for them will continue to increase. At the same time, energy companies are struggling to find renewable and clean energy sources to meet increased grid demands and uncertainty with higher peak times. To meet new demands and minimise service disruptions, demand forecast complexities and expensive upgrades to local and regional infrastructures, an affordable total-solution EV charge demand response technology must be created.

EM is creating intelligent technology to predict and mitigate the grid demand problems caused by an increase in EV use. Unlike other competitors on the market, EM produces total solutions that match the individual needs of drivers or fleets with available energy actors. This allows EM to provide an intelligent and intuitive user experience that removes inefficiencies and inconveniences for EM customers. EM tech will use machine learning to create unique driver charging profiles to reduce customers’ electric bills. EM will also use these profiles to capitalise on the benefits of aggregated EV charging, the most efficient method for maintaining the grid and all its energy system actors.

According to Zap Map (2020), there are 220,000 BEVs in EM’s serviceable market with a target market in home and fleet charging (making up approximately 80% of the market) of £45.7M/year. EM predicts a 10% market penetration by year 5 post-project. This industrial research project aims to create a cloud-based software that will effectively control charging by connecting battery EVs and internet chargers and complete user testing with 1,000 users.
