Both companies’ ideas and vision are uniquely aligned. Kalo in Georgia and Golden Paddy in Myanmar both aim to be digital one-stop solutions to address some of the biggest challenges in achieving a sustainable livelihood through agriculture. Their technology (i.e. mobile app, AI and ML-powered recommendation engine, analytics platform, remote sensing insights) is readily scalable for other crops and geographic locations.

Both platforms cooperate closely with microfinance institutions, such as FMO investee Credo Bank in Georgia, and DAWN, Proximity Finance, VisionFund in Myanmar. Their services are aimed improving partner MFIs’ abilities to source customers (lead generation), collect farm-level data (risk assessment) and inform customers (risk mitigation through advice, alerts and post-loan communication). Through their cooperation, Elva and Impact Terra aim to jointly improve their service delivery model for MFIs in Georgia, Myanmar and beyond.

I highly recommend Elva and their Kalo platform as a candidate for FMO’s Finture Solutions competition. Credo Bank's strong partnership with Elva allows us to achieve significant social impact in a commercially viable and scalable manner. Through this partnership, we have been able to provide thousands of our agro loan customers with world-class agricultural education, advice and inputs, allowing us to significantly reduce risk and to expand our loan portfolio. At the same time, Kalo’s services are helping our customers to improve the quality and quantity of their output and to build sustainable livelihoods. As such, we think your support to Kalo would be a great boost for smallholder farmers across Georgia and abroad.
