To put very simply we want to reduce the amount of food wastage by tackling it at an individual consumer level whilst also providing an incentive for both the businesses involved and the consumers using our service. On the consumer level we provide an web app to track the food you buy and when they are about to expire by simply taking a photo of your receipt (using OCR to recognise the text) and logging down the food into multiple categories. Because we can't accurately determine the date of the expiration, (though we do have plans in the future to make it more possible by involving businesses to provide this information in exchange for consumer data) we infer it from scraping data online, the main idea is not to just provide an accurate date but more so about reminding the user that something is about to expire and you should take action. A majority of food expires because people either forgot they bought it or don't realise, the least we can do is remind that user. Coupled with this information, the consumer also has access to what they have bought and can easily track down on their next shopping trip what they need to buy and what they don't need based on the food they have at home. Additionally, through machine learning, we can better understand the consumers preferences, what they enjoy, what they like to buy, what they buy repeatedly and use this data to push clearance items (items that are about to expire in supermarkets) to users at a subscription cost.

On a business level, they can access our data analytics that provide clearance item tracking, which is currently being done manually at stores. Better tracking of consumer spending and behaviour for different demographics. In short its more detailed data.
