Does your startup have a solution that helps to feed the world’s cities? Rapid population growth, urbanization and the effects of climate change challenge the way we are producing our food. Innovation and investments in smart farming for metropolitan areas are crucial to achieving a sustainable food production in the future.

It is quite remarkable that the Netherlands, as one of the smallest countries, is the world's second-largest exporter of agri-food products. Its unique qualities, such as the limited availability of land, high population density, high labor, and production cost, demanding consumers and growing public awareness about environmental- and animal welfare issues, have pushed the Dutch agri-food sector to be highly innovative, productive, technologically advanced, efficient and safe.

Together with partners, accelerators World Startup Factory and Truvalu.startups founded FoodStars for three reasons: the Dutch horticulture and agri-food sector’s wish to work with international startups, its challenge to adopt high-tech innovations to the context of upcoming markets, where the need for innovation is high. Last but not least, its commitment to contribute to food security and the global Sustainable Development Goals.

We would love you to join our program in The Hague, one of the largest metropoles in Western Europe, and right next to our partners in Westland, the world’s most renowned center for greenhouse horticulture.
