Fuzhio addresses the gaps/needs of these stakeholders:
• Women and smallholder farmers in Karnataka (also across India) face a very big challenge of accessing markets for the products they produce. Most farmers sell these products in local ‘mandis’ or to the local agents, who pay them very little. The proportion of consumer pie reaching the farmers is sometimes as low as 20%.
• While many NGOs and farmer producer organisations have worked towards improving farm productivity, helping farmers to move towards production in organic and traditional ways, they have not been able to market the products directly to consumers who appreciate responsible and sustainable products and support these farmers.
• Consumers do not generally have access to products that are produced in an organic/ responsible way throughout the year, from credible sources
