Business Summary:
GenAssist is a start-up focused on regenerating skeletal muscle tissue following traumatic injury. We are developing a pipeline for commercializing therapies that can be used to heal traumatic muscle injuries, restore muscle contour, and control empty space. Our leading technology is an implant called Musculus Wound Matrix that surgeons will insert into the wound and over 3-4 weeks it is transformed into muscle. GenAssist is currently working to commercialize Musculus Wound Matrix
and obtain pre-market approval from the FDA. Additionally, GenAssist is creating new therapies to improve upon Musculus Wound Matrix and continue innovating in the skeletal muscle space. After passing clinical trials, these devices will be marketed towards military, veterinary, and reconstructive plastic surgeons who treat orthopedic trauma and breast reconstruction. The goal of GenAssist is to commercialize Musculus Wound Matrix by performing clinical trials and obtaining pre-market approva...

The Product:
Musculus Wound Matrix is a protein-based scaffold that is implanted into traumatic muscle loss injuries to regenerate lost muscle tissue. The proteins that make up the scaffold were chosen to mimic those found in normal skeletal muscle and tell the existing muscle cells to grow new muscle. The body naturally breaks down Musculus Wound Matrix as new muscle tissue fills the injury site. Muscle regeneration leads to enhanced muscle strength, overall energy, appearance, and ultimately, morale and happiness for the patient.
