The aim of the Precision Agriculture based Information Service (PAIS) project is development of web-based service for the collection and archiving of diverse data on crops and their presentations to the farmers. The source of crop data is two-folded: aerial images and sensor measurements. The aerial images are taken using an inexpressive unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with suitably selected cameras (RGB, NIR, IR, multispectral, etc.), while mobile sensor stations and wireless sensor networks (WSN) installed on crop fields are used for monitoring changes in temperature, humidity, soil moisture, pH, etc. All of this gathered data from the same parcel is linked based on spatial and temporal attributes. The heterogeneous data correlated with these attributes give richer and more reliable information. Such information provides a comprehensive image of crops growth and indications of its changes due to diseases, lack of fertilization or inadequate agricultural technical actions.

PAIS is a web-based service available to its end-users, such as farmers, agricultural communities and agricultural consulting agencies by using the developed web browser application and Android application. The service allows the end-user to define its parcels, to specify positions and altitudes from where images should be taken and where sensor nodes should be placed.
The project provides the establishment of the PAIS service based on the integration of heterogeneous data sources. They enable end-user online access to crop conditions and to make timely decisions, as well as direct exchange of information between farmers and agricultural consulting agencies. In this way, it increases the yield and product quality, but also savings in the use of fertilizers and protective agents.
