Hacking the Future 2014 is themed around LIVE – PLAY – MOVE and will form the core of the Birmingham Made Me Expo, 1st to 9th May, 2014. Workshops start on 20 or 21st January and will be at City North, Baker Conference Suit.

'Discovery Project 1' is the starter project for teams of three from all faculties at Birmingham City University. Your team will explore and find an opportunity for a big idea. All students may apply.

The Goal:
To create positive impact on peoples’ lives by harnessing “sustainability” and “well-being” behaviours through design.

 Interactive Packaging/Comms Challenges 3 & 4 - 20th Jan 4pm – 8pm
 Wearable Technology Challenges 5 & 6 - 21st Jan 11am – 3pm
 Urban Interventions Challenges 5 & 6 - 21st Jan 4pm – 8pm

Workshop 2 – Idea development and rapid prototyping – join ONE of the appropriate follow -on workshops
 Home Living & Interactive Packaging 10th Feb 11am – 6pm
 Wearable Tech & Urban Interventions 11th Feb 11am – 6pm

2. Conduct independent research (2 days)

3. A mentoring session for your team will run on the 27th and 28th January (by appointment)

This project will require about 3½ days to complete.

Student teams that want to continue to Project 2 will need to make an application to the "Idea Collaboration" project through a Pitch (a 30 minute time slot is scheduled for 17th or 18th February).
