Hatsumi is a therapeutic virtual reality platform integrating bodily experience with artistic expression. Drawn from an effective and proven qualitative arts health research method known as body mapping, Hatsumi bridges the intersection of behavioural healthcare, art and technology to create a unique communication platform, designed to be used in tandem with existing therapeutic models, and as a research tool for academic institutions. Users are able to visually translate complex emotions and experiences on a life size body using 3D painting tools to create artworks accompanied by audio descriptions that can be analysed, saved and shared.
