PROBLEM - There are 12M people in the UK who used to volunteer but don't any more. In total there are 18M people in the UK who would like to spend more time volunteering. However there are some major barriers: 1) Finding opportunities that match availability 2) On-going time commitments 3) Finding opportunities that match skills & interests.

SOLUTION - An online platform that allows users to help each other on their own time; as and when they can. We've introduced gamification via the Karma score incentive to encourage users to help each other and finally by taking money out of the equation we create opportunities for deeper, more meaningful interactions.

MARKET VALIDATION (UK) - There are 15M regular volunteers in the UK and almost 7m members on the Freecycle & Freegle network "giving and getting stuff". There were 5000+ unique tweets with the #legup over a 2week period in July which is basically a work-around for helpfulpeeps.

GLOBAL MARKET OPPORTUNITY - We have identified 33M potential users in the UK and 150M+ in the US as the first two markets we are focusing on but we see a massive global opportunity.

PRODUCT - We've created a simple and easy to use MVP that allows users to ask for help when they want, offer help when they can and to earn karma for their actions.

TRACTION - We have proven our concept with 2500+ users (490 requests for help, 387 offers). 95% of our users would recommend to their friends and we recently won best startup pitch at Apps World.

TEAM - co-founders Saf and Simon have a synergistic combination of skills which covers sales, marketing, engineering & project management. Over the last 9 months they have taken helpfulpeeps from concept to achieving product market fit whilst bootstrapping on less than £10k.

BUSINESS MODEL - For individual users the platform will always be free to use. We will monetise by launching our 'helpful partner network' which is a subscription model aimed at companies with CSR budgets and/or volunteer schemes where we strip away the barriers to volunteering, making it easier than ever for organisations and their employees to make a difference by providing relevant opportunities for employees to engage in the community as and when they can. Once we reach a critical mass of users we will launch our Ad Platform powered by the 'help graph' which we will open up to brand partners for targeted ads based on interests as-well as demographics.

I've known Saf and Simon for over a year and what made me invest in them was their single minded determination to make helpfulpeeps a success and their ability to bring others along for the journey - great guys!
