HERO Medical, a startup medical device company, is housed at the Mayo Clinic Life Sciences Incubator in Jacksonville, Florida. We are a women-owned small business founded by both a nurse practitioner and former Navy Lieutenant.
We are researching, developing, and plan to validate a sensor-embedded head bandage with the capability to treat bleeding head wounds and monitor vital signs in the pre-hospital or post-operative setting. Our bandage is patented for treatment of head and limb wounds, and we have a patent pending for embedded sensor technology for ANY body part, and continue to expand our patent portfolio for a wide array of telemedicine solutions that will transform care, especially for underserved populations and children.

We prototyped and developed a one-piece bandage that takes a fraction of the time to place on a head, and replaces the outdated method of wrapping a head wound. HERO bandage will improve efficiency of hemostasis in emergency settings, and potentially reduce blood loss. We are developing a bandage that can be utilized in the event of mass casualty situations, school shootings, or in acute, post-operative, or chronic wound care needs.
We are collaborating with a Mayo Trauma surgeon, neurologists, and anesthesiologists, and computer scientists with expertise in monitoring and treating TBI patients.
Our patented simple bandage (without sensors) will be manufactured/distributed via multiple EMS/hospital channels and suppliers to provide an income stream for development of the advanced technology bandage for which we have a patent-pending. We have a long runway of iterations, but first will sell “low lying fruit” as a simple bandage will not require FDA approval. The initial bandage rollout will also garner acceptance for a one-piece trauma bandage (to replace standard gauze that has been used for centuries).
