We transform biowaste into PHA biopolymer through Hydal biotechnology. Our circular biopolymer holds great application potential. We focus on high-added-value products based on Hydal PHA. Currently, we have developed several natural cosmetic products which benefit from Hydal PHA addition.
Hence, our know-how includes a two-step process: 1) circular biopolymer production from waste, 2) biopolymer processing, development of applications, and targeting final customers.
We produce Hydal PHA from waste cooking oil. Hydal biotechnology is a sustainable and environment-friendly production process. Based on our LCA evaluation, GWP100a of 1 kg Hydal PHA is – 6,1 kg CO2 eq. Both in Hydal PHA production and in application development, we strive for sustainable solutions. Hydal technology corresponds with Sustainable Development Goals and Green Deal strategy. Hydal PHA contributes mainly to SDGs 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 17.

We aim to utilize various waste streams in Hydal biotechnology. Now we focus on waste brewery malt. Thus, waste from AbInBev can serve as a feedstock for Hydal PHA, which can be further used in Colgate and Palmolive cosmetics as well as become raw material for sustainable packaging of various products.
