The cost of making movies and TV for mainstream users is exceptionally high. There's marketing and advertising, hosting costs - not to mention the actual budget involved in getting the show made in the first place. What does this mean for the consumer? Only one type of person - usually a white male, but primarily connected by generational wealth - can afford to have their story shared.

Enter Invalid Productions' newest app, Alta Voz (A play on traditional AV Club, this Loud Voice is a symbol of giving volume to new makers). Alta Voz exists as a platform for first-time, non-binary, female and other minority filmmakers, television makers, music creators and video producers. The idea is simple: we do the advertising, marketing and user generation necessary to get eyes on new work. Users know that when they purchase an Alta Voz subscription, they're getting access to high-quality content that's created by female, nonbinary and minority creators. Our job at AV is to make the user experience memorable and the content worthy of sharing. This is not a non-profit. We make our money by discovering the next big director, content producer, musician, etc. Getting a place among Alta Voz' creators is an honor. We buy singular rights on high quality content that already exists and produce content that would otherwise not get funded.

We're the streaming platform that believes better stories get told by more diverse storytellers. Most users are ambivalent to the makers of their content when what they’re watching is entertaining and high quality. We use that disconnect to allow minority filmmakers a space to reach new audiences. We're an online studio with the flexibility and voice to reach millions of users.
