Startup/fund idea to eliminate 'renting', a network of 'rent-to-own'/shared equity properties globally, w/ liquid equity transfer. We plan to use the 'rent' as more like gaining equity in an REIT fund, which will crowdfund purchasing new (sustainably developed) properties, or reinvesting into sustainable urban renovation, and social entrepreneurs. So you can imagine if AirBnB & WeWork combined, but was sharing the equity gained with the tenants, so the money is creating a new shared equity bank, that focuses on economic development and sustainability.
The next stage in the go-to-market process is to partner with corporations, universities, municipalities, NGOs & foundations, to share the equity (however the tenant is still the 'asset manager' of the property), and this is in order to reduce the mortgage and eliminate any interest at all, as well as reduce insurance, and could reduce overall rent by at least 20%.
The long term goal is to find a way to get the bottom of the pyramid to think about sustainability, instead of living paycheck to paycheck. To get them to become investors in their property, into their neighborhood, and into the world.
So to go even further, instead of paying 'rent', if tenants were 'investing' into green bonds (backed by real estate purchased by impact investors), which in the end will crowdfund sustainable development, or renovate current buildings to be more green. more
