involveMINT.io, not-for-profit social enterprise based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Our mission is to build and connect a regional network of resources to ease the financial and logistical barriers preventing individuals from serving on community based projects. We do this through a webApp that enables active citizens (ChangeMakers) to earn a local currency that can be exchanged for vital resources at businesses, institutions, civic organizations and even government (SpendPartners).

Our ultimate vision is to enable the labor force to tackle chronic community challenges related to food security, health care, environment and education (among other challenges). Part of this work is dedicated to identifying unemployed, underemployed, or coercively employed (employed in low wage jobs merely to make ends meet), and deploy them to address these challenges. We them aim to connect these individuals with under-utilized or underutilized resources in the economy that can supplement their income and provide for core needs.

Our webApp will also collect and aggregate vital data related to social impact and sustainable development goals (SDG), that will allow Service Opportunities hosted on their app to chronicle and better direct ChangeMakers to solve these complex socio-economic challenges.

We anticipate that the nature of labor is going to change as more and more jobs disappear due to automation, and we think there is a role for non-profits and community based organizations can play a role at the grassroots level in leading a transition to valuing work in the social service and humanitarian sectors. more
