Social Hackers Academy
Online bootcamp that offers accessible tech education to vulnerable groups.
Social Hackers Academy is a Non-Profit tech school for refugees and vulnerable groups.
Our mission is to support vulnerable groups, incl. refugees/migrants/unemployed, in getting access to quality tech education that leads to employment and a future-proof career.
We started in September 2017 with a blended learning model and since then we've launched 11 coding classes in Athens while we supported/launched coding schools in Barcelona, Zagreb, Heraklion and Santiago.
Since March 2020 our team is going through a major pivot as we are moving all our classes online using innovative pedagogical models which will help us in reaching out to a wider audience where students live in refugee camps and remote villages.
Apart from the change in our educational and pedagogical approach we also bring a different approach in order to get to financial sustainability. We'll implement the ISA (Income Share Agreement) payment model where the graduate, once we've found him a job, will "pay it forward" by returning a small amount of money back to SHA in order to reach more students.
Meanwhile we are creating a network of hundreds of tech companies that are hiring our graduates. To support us in our growth we created a platform where our Hiring Partners have access to the profiles of our students.
