Appcycled is the first digital platform for Upcycled fashion, with the mission of simplifying the process of upcycling. Our aim is to minimize further waste production and CO2 emissions, by creating and promoting a circular business model that highlights the work of designers that create out of existing discharged materials.
Appcycled is a network, a community, a platform and a vision. We’re a marketplace, a window and a multi-sided platform that facilitates the interaction between customers (looking for unique sustainable and fashionable products) and independent designers (who have difficulty to stand out and be noticed). For this service, we charge a commission fee of 25% on every transaction. Besides the main revenue stream, we give clients the opportunity to detox their wardrobe in exchange for a discount and secure a second life to their garments thanks to our network of designers who can buy these items at low prices. We create a community of designers and provide them with advertising services for better placement and visibility on the website as well as PR collaborations and event participation. Furthermore, having a strong network of designers and garments collected we will be able to add other revenue streams which will be vital in the long-run of the business. The first one, upcycling partnerships with brands reducing their waste production and strengthening their brand image. Also having an in house tailor that can do simple alterations to most items and we can resell them as secondhand.
We help transform trash into elegant, fashionable items. As the second most polluting industry in the world, most of CO2 emissions come from the production of textiles and products, we could decrease drastically the need to produce if only we started to use more of what we already have.
Appcycled is positioning itself in the medium/high-end segment as all our products are going to be unique designer pieces, and our target market to start with is going to be Italy. We already started collecting unused garments in the city of Milan, with an average of 30 items per client we already collected 900 items.
We are now working on growing our designer network, working closely to establish real connections, and creating a community, expressing its values of sustainable lifestyle and enabling change, by sharing content through storytelling, authenticity and trust. We finished creating the platform, and we’re currently signing designers to join before the launch. more
