Recycling chain optimized for marine plastic polution
Our seas and oceans are vital for our ecosystem and for our economy, and if the current trend is not reversed this could have legacy effect for future generations through degradation of marine ecosystems and threats to human health.
Establishing sound plastic waste collection and recycling systems is essential to keep plastics out of the sea.
Recycllux uses ground-breaking technologies to develop a recycling and material chain optimized for the end-of-life plastic products that end up in the seas and oceans. This enables a faster and more efficient collection and recycling of marine plastic to turn it into secondary plastic. Recycllux contributes to the European strategy for plastics in a circular economy and will ensure that by 2025 ten million tonnes of recycled plastics find their way into new products on the EU market.
Recycllux uses satellite Earth Observation data and applies machine-learning algorithms to identify the marine plastic litter problem spots, where actions need to be taken. Then, blockchain, incentivizes the collectors and encourages recycling. Our solution is enabling end-to-end recycling interventions.
With no improvements to managing plastic waste beyond what’s already in place today, 99 million tons of uncontrolled plastic waste would end up into waterways, and ultimately the oceans, by 2030. more
