This potential is demonstrated by deals already secured with two international tablet distributors, our win of 16 awards (including Female Entrepreneur Of The Year and Intel’s Global Business Challenge in 2014); and a deal with a top animations studio to develop a children’s TV series based on the adventures of our superhero characters.
We have delivered on our £180k seed investment by securing preload deals with two global distributors of family tablets, releasing the first version of our app – which achieved strong initial traction – and licensing our brand to a range of commercial partners. In November 2014 we were announced as the winner of Intel’s Global Business Challenge in the category of Computing for Social Innovation, out of over 20,000 applicants.
Our core product is a mobile app for children aged 3-9, which uses play in the fantasy world of Moodville to equip children with the skills to identify and manage their emotions. Our games and characters are fun and engaging for children, while subtly incorporating established emotional learning tools. The effectiveness of these tools for developing emotional intelligence and improving children’s academic and mental health prospects has been demonstrated by multiple long-term studies. As they play, children earn points with which to nurture their virtual selves and their environment, while parents are able to track their child's progress and set real world tasks for children to complete in order to lengthen and enhance their game play and access to content. Karisma Kidz has been downloaded more than 50,000 times and 53% of those users continue to play for a month or more.
