The Kidogo team is a tightly knit powerhouse with incredible drive and a ferocious passion for Early Childhood Development. Individually, each member is remarkable and exceptional at what they do, when they come together the sum of their parts quickly grows greater than the whole. I have witnessed this team at work and the passion was palpable and their energy was simply contagious, critical considering their community based approach. Kidogo is taking its first steps along its ambitious path and I cannot wait to see how it grows and the lives it touches along the way.
Kidogo encompasses a team of individuals who are passionate and dedicated to their work to achieve maximum development for the children in the informal settlements. They go an extra mile to ensure children grow all round in terms of education, nutrition and health and their programs will have a great impact to the children and the community at large. Having interacted with Kidogo, what i like about their program is that they are community based in that whatever they make they give back to the community and also they involve the local community in decision making and provision of services. I believe Kidogo is a model to be emulated and i commend them for the good work they are doing
Kidogo is piloting something remarkably new with their center in Nairobi- providing a needed service to some of the most vulnerable populations in the city, while also empowering those they serve. I can't imagine what they will accomplish in the next few years with such a visionary model.
The Kidogo Project fills an important social gap in low income urban developments: the availability of childcares with a good cost/quality ratio, which allow mothers of pre-school children to look for work and older siblings to go to school. The launch of the first Kidogo Childcare in the Kibera slum, and the future scale up of the model, will prove it is possible to deploy a sustainable enterprise model in support of early childhood development. A great, economically sound project with a high social impact potential.
It is been eye opening to see Kidogo transform from an idea to a social enterprise. The co-founders story, conviction and passion is extremely vivid. They are not just aiming to improve ECD but they are using forward thinking to make a significant impact on people’s lives.
With clever names, and a genius idea, the Founders of Kidogo were inspired through a series of events leading them to the position they are in today. They are not only passionate about their work, but they are also willing to go to any length to ensure the clients and workers of the ECD centre will be satisfied. Kidogo has amazing potential and I am extremely excited to see where it will go with amazing founders like Afzal and Sabrina.
