Kindu TV will replace YouTube in the classroom, which is the most visited education website by teachers. We’re a home for elementary school teachers to find, share, and organize high quality educational videos, all with no ads. We built it for Georgia (co-founder) to use in her kindergarten class (i.e., our test lab) and now for the world. We have a growing library of 12,000+ crowdsourced and classroom-ready videos and collections. The majority of the videos are short music/dance/explainer videos on topics like phonics, counting, addition, etc..

We do the following 3 things:

1. We make finding great videos easy.
Teachers can search for videos that have been added by us or other teachers. All videos are reviewed and verified by Kindu as safe for the classroom. They can browse topics, channels, collections, and apply education-specific filters (e.g., grade level).

2. We make watching videos safe and distraction free.

2. We make watching videos safe and distraction free.
Unlike YouTube, teachers and students can watch videos with no ads and no crazy sidebar of blackbox recommendations. We provide a simple viewing experience with topic specific recommendations that speak to teachers in their language (e.g., “more videos about counting by 10”).

3. We make saving, organizing, and sharing videos fun.
Teachers can bookmark their favorite videos, create custom collections, or add videos from YouTube. From the teacher’s perspective, when they add a video from YouTube we automagically remove the ads for them. Teachers can share their collections with colleagues/students/parents and can collaborate on shared collections. Once verified as safe, we add these videos and collections to our crowdsourced library.

While Kindu TV will be free for teachers forever, we’ll launch a premium version of the product, Kindu TV+, and sell it to schools and districts. Kindu TV+ will contain additional features, including:
- A classroom portal to manage student accounts
- Ability for teachers to add videos to students’ queues and track video completion
- A simplified, for-student interface of Kindu TV that will serve as a “sandbox” for young students to watch videos (e.g., big buttons/pictures)
- Personalized collections automatically generated for individual students based on rules set by the teacher (e.g., a teacher could allow videos about phonics for grades K-2)
- Premium content
- A desktop and mobile app
