We are a biotech company dedicated to providing products and tools for sustainable intensification of agriculture. Our first product is a biostimulant that exploits three biological phenomena: 1) the capacity of roots to attract beneficial microbes; 2) the existence of microbial strains that can improve plant fitness; 3) our ability to modify the medium in order to promote specific biological processes. The result is a biofertilizer that can generally enhance productivity on a variety of crops. However, where the results are clearly impressive are on plants within the families Crucifera and Quenopodiacea. So far, the ROI of using our products seems attractive for most of crops and it seems to complement well with most fertilization plans typically used by farmers, from organic to conventional, from intensive to extensive.
In reality, this product is a pack composed of two liquid formulae. From one side we mix the beneficial microbes and metabolites that elicit the root release of chemical attractants. This probiotics - PowerSoil - is applied once per vegetative cycle and is particularly useful where soil diversity and organic content have been depleted. Our metagenomic results indicate that the technology to elicit the root response is important in shaping the associated microbiome. Improved by this root call out, our highly beneficial microbes become dominating populations within the community, ready to express their phytostimulating actions.
From the other side, we designed a prebiotics - NutriSoil - enriched in molecular precursors of the biological processes we want the microbes to perform. This second product can be applied in the filed 3-4 times along the growing cycle. These compounds are quickly transformed by the root microbiome into phytostimulants and other beneficial chemicals. The crop response to the addition of NutriSoil can sometime be visually evident in a matter of days, which suggest that the underlining stimulation process could be based on some plant hormone.
The cost of the treatment for the farmer varies between 80 and 200 €/hectare per year, pretty much depending on how many times NutriSoil is applied. In every case investigated, the ROI made our products attractive for the majority of crops. more
