KYMIRA is a smart textiles company at the forefront of smart garment design and poised to underpin the entire industry. Founded in 2013 to develop technologies for use in the sports and medical markets, KYMIRA now has customers on every continent around the world and its products are helping to enhance athletic performance, extend careers, treat chronic illnesses, improve and change lives.
KYMIRA’s first technology, an infrared emitting yarn, harnesses wasted body energy from the wearer in addition to visible light in the surroundings, then converts it to infrared light. This is re-emitted and penetrates 4cm into soft tissue, causing a number of biological reactions that have medical and sporting benefits to the wearer.

Today the products and technology carry medical status in the EU, Australasia and the US. 11 independent trials have been published on the infrared technology’s efficacy. The company’s sportswear brand (KYMIRA Sport) has gained international recognition and boasts customers such as Olympic Gold Medallist, International Rugby Teams, and every-day consumers.
KYMIRA Sport is now looking to secure a greater international presence with a primary focus on the US, and EU. Strong progress has been made here, with the signing of a US Agent, US NED, and conversations taking place with multiple colleges and professional franchises. The NBA have granted permission for KYMIRA’s products and technology to be used in game.
To ensure the long term future of the company, KYMIRA have been developing their second platform technology, Fibre Core. This is a universal method of creating e-textiles through the impregnation of fibres with electronics. The outputs of this technology will be smart garments that can monitor biomedical signals such as heart rate, respiration rate and movement. The primary differentiators being that unlike existing solutions, there will be no need for bulky battery and processing packs, and the garments will be fully machine washable. The primary focus for these smart garments will be a consumer health version which gives unparalleled accuracy, ease of use and longevity. And a pro/medical version which will detect, diagnose and alert the emergency services of a heart attack, up to 48 hours before the event occurs. The first patients for this technology will be athletes with hereditary heart disease, to prevent sudden heart attacks in game. Or, institutions that regularly conduct ECG screens of their athletes.
