We founded the company Lavoisier Composites to develop a new generation of materials entirely sourced from carbon composites from the European aerospace transformation sector.
Implemented following a process that has been the subject of 3 patents, Carbonium® brings its aerospace grade structural properties and a totally unique aesthetic to the parts obtained.

Specifically, to manufacture the different versions of the Carbonium® range:
1. We supply by-products of carbon / epoxy prepregs originally intended for structural parts of commercial civil aircraft.
2. Although discarded from the aeronautical manufacturing process, these batches of materials are traced and controlled to enter our manufacturing process.
3. From these materials, our process allows us to obtain products in bulk (BMC) or roll mat (SMC) form.

These products are specially designed for compression molding in order to obtain parts of variable geometrical complexity. Depending on the material configurations and the molding process, it is possible to obtain very competitive mechanical properties at an affordable price.

In addition to being moldable, Carbonium® can be drilled and machined according to technical constraints. This machinability allowed us to exploit an interesting aesthetic rendering in collaboration with the Swiss watchmaking company Ulysse Nardin. The first two luxury watch models (Freak X and Skeleton X) presented at the last SIHH show (International Salon of Haute Horlogerie) in Geneva are already a commercial success.

Since Carbonium® is sourced from by-products of the European aerospace industry, their environmental impact is much lower. The LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) conducted in connection with a consultant enabled us to evaluate the overall impact improvement from -40 to -50% on the various criteria. Compared with an equivalent compression molding product sourced from virgin raw materials, the climate change criterion corresponds to a saving of 13kg of CO2 equivalent per Kg of product.

In short, Carbonium® brings performance and aesthetic without compromising environment.
