At LearnTaV.com (Learning Takes a Village) our aim is to help teachers reduce their workload and to create a platform that helps to provide a better learning experience for our children.
We do this via an application/ software designed to interface teachers, parents and the tutors in a community to better bridge the learning gap for students.
Consequently, this collaborative venture would also redistribute some of the workload from teachers to parents or volunteers and tutors. The product is designed to help teachers assign students an academic booster session with tutors via the LearnTaV app. The teachers will also be able to assign specific lessons from the common core (HMH curriculum and lessons available as a free resource to teachers) and online resources that they consider useful for the tutors. In return, the tutors will share part of their earnings with the teachers for their help with assigning lessons and students for mentoring. The teacher will be able to use this money towards stationary and field trip funds. There will also be a pool of money available for underserved students who may not be able to afford the help they need.

The parents have the choice of using the free lessons provided to them and tutoring the child themselves, using our app to arrange private tutoring or using the resource/tutor assigned to them by the teacher. They can also opt out at any time in which case they will still be able to access the curriculum and lessons at no cost.

The tutors will include a pool of volunteers and experts from the community, students in the same school as well as parents of existing students who wish to participate in the after school tutoring program.

Revenue is shared across the board but more importantly, if the tutor wishes to donate their share of earnings to the pool for underserved students, we will donate our earnings as well.

To further our aim of social entrepreneurship, we make it easy for parents to buy tutoring lessons for other kids if they wish to help the community as well as donate to local educational foundations which help teachers with extra funding for their classroom and innovation. We are currently working with Medford Educational Foundation to support this feature in our app.
The app/software will provide a user friendly interface to make all this possible.
We are currently working to pilot with two elementary schools in Medford, MA but we aim to expand this idea to all 1796 schools in MA in 5 years.
