We are in the early stages of finalizing our UI/UX designs for what will eventually be our mobile, web, and desktop app Loakly. This app will primarily be a social media app relying on user content, but will show users the posts closest to them first. Posts can be pure text or mixed media, and can be posted to up to three "branches." These branches function like a mix between Reddit's subreddits and Twitter or Instagram's hashtags, as users can choose the branches they follow to populate their main feed. Another important aspect is privacy and anonymity. All users have to create an account linked with their name and phone number, but for each post or comment they can choose whether they would like to post anonymously (under a random name or simply OP), or with their username. This functionality would work similar to the Fishbowl app, where the generated names will be consistent throughout the thread.
All of these features, combined with a branding that emphasizes community involvement and good content over celebrity status, markets ourselves well towards the population that is growing increasingly tired of mainstream social media apps. Loakly hopes to provide a refreshingly "real" feeling of social interaction that people can switch to.
